History of Denim Day: In the 90's, a rape conviction was overturned in Italy. The courts decided that the 18-year-old victim's tight jeans must mean she helped the rapist (her 45-year-old driving instructor) remove them and thereby consented. The next day, the women of the court wore jeans in protest.
We wear denim every April to loudly proclaim that someone's clothing is never an invitation nor an excuse.
