Boise, Idaho – March 27, 2024 –Faces of Hope Founder, Jean Fisher, spoke at the United Nations Status on the Commission of Women 68th Session Parallel event in New York City.
Faces of Hope founder, Jean Fisher discussed the life-changing wraparound services of Faces of Hope at the United Nations. Fisher spoke at the Status on the Commission of Women 68th Session Parallel event in the discussion titled: Walking Together for Holistic Well-being: Alternative Practices from Women’s Centers.
Fisher was invited by the Turkish Women and Democracy Foundation (KADEM) and spoke about the creation and mission of Faces of Hope and how to best address victimization of domestic violence.
The event showcased alternative, innovative, and effective examples of women centers from different contexts. Women’s support centers were highlighted as beacons of hope that provide a comprehensive network of services designed to empower all women to reclaim their lives.
Speakers representing South Africa, Pakistan, and Turkey joined Fisher at the event.
Fisher dedicated her career to advocating for child crime victims. She prosecuted countless child abuse cases and testified before the Legislature to support our community’s youngest victims. Fisher’s efforts were instrumental in developing the protocol that allowed child victim interviews and forensics to be used in court cases.
Fisher became the Chief Operating Officer of Faces of Hope upon the organization’s creation in 2016. Fisher’s vision brought together wraparound services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, elder abuse, human trafficking, and stalking.
Under Fisher, Faces of Hope created a strategic plan to expand Faces of Hope to two locations and ensure that services such as counseling, case management, and legal support are accessible for crisis victims escaping abusive situations.
“Jean Fisher’s compassion and vision allow Faces of Hope to help victims who need trauma-informed counseling, emergency housing, food, legal advocacy, and transportation. As a result victims receive immediate access to care, along with tools that support recovery and a healthy, safe, empowered future. Because of Jean, nearly 7,000 victims have received help, hope, and healing at Faces of Hope,” said Paige Dinger, Executive Director at Faces of Hope.
Fisher said, “I could not be prouder to talk about the work Faces of Hope does to support victims. Faces of Hope is not just refuge – it offers an extensive array of resources aimed at empowering women to regain control over their lives.”
Fisher currently serves as the Idaho State Director for Right on Crime, an organization that supports conservative solutions for criminal justice reform.
History of Faces of Hope
In 2016, Faces of Hope launched with the mission to reduce victimization with a safety net of crisis services. Specifically, Faces of Hope helps those affected by domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse, elder abuse, human trafficking, and stalking.
Faces of Hope introduced a counseling program in 2018, a legal program in 2020, and case management in 2021. In 2018, Faces of Hope began funding the University of Idaho Family Justice Clinic providing law students the opportunity to develop legal skills while providing free legal assistance to survivors of interpersonal violence. In January 2024, Faces of Hope opened a new office in Meridian, Idaho. A new downtown location will open in Spring 2024.
